On a sunny day at Underhill Park we played our first game of the season against Swansea 3rds. Swansea won the toss and elected to field. The wicket was soft and with a slow outfield runs were hard to come by and the batsmen had a lot of running to do.
The Club opened with Michael Arnold and Liam Brown. They put on 30 for the first wicket when Michael went for 18 getting caught. Liam was joined by Shane Penier and they put together a partnership of 123 before Liam was bowled for a very respectful 60 which included one 6 two 4,s. Shane was the joined by Tim Rees who lasted 3 balls and was bowled for a duck. The hard hitting Rob John came to the wicket and scored an aggressive 38 before being caught behind. Ryan Britten got run out for a duck and Gareth Hewitt finished the innings not out. Leaving Shane Penier 100no. He achieved this with a 3 off the last ball of the innings. His 100 consisted of one 6 six 4,s and a lot of running between the wicket. Lets hope he carries on the season the way he has started.
The wicket takers for Swansea were Joe Singh 2w for 24, Sasha Prashad 1w for 34 and Alex Matthews 1w for 46.
In reply Swansea finished up with 61 for 9. It was determind batting from some good young players that prevented the club getting maximum points. The top scorer for Swansea was Callum Jenkins with a mature 22.
The wicket takers for Dunvant were Tim Rees 3w for 12, Rob John 2w for 5, Johnny Welch 1w for 10, Lee Tucker 1w for 7, Gareth Hewitt 1w for 9 and Gareth John 1w for 12.
