Dunvant v Ynysygerwyn

On what started out as a cloudy dismal afternoon turned out to be a sunny warm and enjoyable day of cricket.
Dunvant batted first and thanks to openers Ceri Phillips 28 which included 2 fours and Shane Penar 76 with 14 fours put on 123 in 15 overs for the first wicket. The in form Ryan Howell came to the wicket and scored 53no with 10 fours to help the score along. We lost a few wickets with John Arnold going for 1 and Gareth Hewitt 2. Gareth John came to the wicket and scored a quick fire 16 with 3 fours. This took us to 207 for 5 in 26 overs. The skipper decided to declare at this point giving us 14 extra overs to get the opposition out but it also gave the opposition 14 extra overs to get the runs.The wicket takers for Ynysygerwyn were C Richards 4 overs 2 wickets for 21, R Davies 4 overs 1 wicket for 25 and J Thomas 6 overs 1 wicket for 56.
In reply Ynysygerwyn started well with opener A Brey batting sensibly for 37 before being caught by Rob John, bowled Scott Lewis. They started to loose some wickets but offered some good resistance from young R Davies 14 before being caught. M Wills came to the wicket and batted really well for an aggressive 73 which included 10 fours and 2 sixes before being bowled by Johnny Welch. They finished up on 165 all out in 47 overs. The wicket takers were Rob John 10 overs 2 for 31, Scott Lewis 10 overs 2 for 31, Johnny Welch 2 overs 2 wickets for 2, Ryan Howell 5 overs 1 for 6 and Tim Rees 6 overs 1 for 36
