The evening started with a 45 min DVD of Dunvant’s great unbeaten home run marred only by Seven Sisters in the last home game in the dying seconds. We then moved on to the Development XV Awards;

Coaches Player of the Year- Jonathan Arnold-Presented by Coach Roger Slack
Players’ Player of the Year-Shaun Davies-Presented by Coach Denver Austin
We then had the 1st XV Coaches Speeches. Firstly, Backs Coach Jay Parry reviewed the season, revealing that the target at the start was to finish at least 3rd and we had achieved that ambition, and were challenging 1st and 2nd most of the season to be pipped by Maesteg Quins and Skewen right at the end, but importantly the Club will be playing in Division One next season All the squad have contributed massively to the cause, and we had some horrific long term injuries to contend with right from the start. Forwards Coach Gareth Williams then looked forwards to Season 2014-15 and we await to see if we will be in 1 West or 1 West Central. Training will start on 1st July and will be held 3 nights a week, details to be announced shortly. It is always good to see talented players rising to the top and Dunvant Stars Full back/Wing Adam Williams Parry and Hooker Ceri Davies will be plying their trade at Premiership side Llanelli next season, where they could even break through into the Scarlets. Dunvant wishes the boys well, but we hope they will also be able to play for us on Dual Registration. On the Coaching side, Jay and Gareth will continue, but Craig “Ripper” Hawkins who has returned to his home club Dunvant after 12 years at Llanelli will be 1st XV Player/Coach. In addition Llanelli will be hosting testimonial for Ripper and he has asked that it be held at Dunvant-watch this space. Gareth then moved on to our International stars, home grown Dunvant boys from our Junior Section who have risen to International honours who deserved Club recognition for their achievements. Finally, Gareth announced that Mitchell Ford will again be Club Captain for 2014/15

The raffle raised over £300 and Shaun has asked me to offer his families thanks and appreciation for such a generous gesture by all at Dunvant.
With the formalities over, all attending, including all the wives and girlfriends dolled up to the nines were served a meal of curry, rice and chips, cooked by Master Chef Peter Kelleher.
