D-Fest is the brainchild of Dunvant RFC’s Under-15s section who will be hosting the event at Broadacre on Saturday, July 7 involving continuous musical entertainment between 2pm and 10pm.
It is an expansion of the rugby club’s annual carnival as the club helps to raise money for its Under-15 side to go on tour next spring.
“Traditionally, the carnival has been a parade through the village followed by stalls and entertainment at the rugby club, but this year we thought we would turn it into a music festival as well,” said Dunvant Under-15s team manager James Richards.
“From 2pm we will have two stages with music from all tastes from rock, pop and the more traditional – and it’s only £1 entry fee per person. It’s basically fun for all the family.”
Among the attractions are local bands including The Flames, Out of the Blue and the Willis Soul Band as well as two local choirs.
But as well as the musical entertainment there will be carnival stalls and entertainment for kids as well as a barbeque and beer tent.
“Programmes will be on sale in the Dunvant and Killay area up to and including the day at just a £1 but people can also turn up on the day and pay £1 on the gate,” added James.
