Ninth placed Newcastle Emlyn were promoted from Division 1 West in 2014/15 winning the play off to enter the 14 team Championship for 2015/16. They won 10 of their 26 games finishing in 10th place and scoring 68 tries.
This season they have two wins, 30-35 at Glamorgan Wanderers and 20-0 at home against Newbridge. They have lost at home to Cardiff Met and Narberth and away at Beddau and Glynneath. Their Beddau pounding of 69-3 was much like ours at Pontypool where we lost 69-17. It seems there is very little to choose between our squads and Dunvant have drawn both our last two visits to Dol Wiber. To date Emlyn have 10 points scoring 12 tries to Dunvant’s 7 points with 14 tries. Although Dunvant are lying in 11th place they are actually 5th in terms of points scored and 6th in terms of try count which gives us hope for climbing the table as games progress.
Both sides will be desperate to improve their league position so this will be another close fought encounter. Barry Griffiths has organised a supporters bus and with lubrication on the way, hopefully they will be in fine voice by the time they arrive.
Don’t forget you red and green supporters- respect the Referee, respect the players, respect our opponents and enjoy the game, whatever the result, wherever you are.
