Worcester Warriors new scrum-half Andy Williams says he is happy to be away from Welsh club rugby.
The 29-year-old took legal action against former club The Dragons when he received a letter telling him he had been released in January 2009.
"I am happy I am out of Wales, I had to sign legal documents not to say what happened, I almost gave up playing," he told BBC Hereford & Worcester.
"I don't look over my shoulder to see what is going on in Wales any more."
Williams, who has been capped five times by his country, played for the Ospreys and the Dragons before moving back to England where he had previously played for Bath in the Premiership.
"I am 29 and I know I have more good years left in me and I hope they will be with Worcester," he said
"They deserve to be in the top tier in Europe and I want to be a part of that."
As Worcester chase an immediate return to the Premiership Williams insists playing in the Championship is proving a bigger challenge than the higher league.
"I found this league a lot harder, the Premiership is a lot more disciplined," he said.
"In the Prem they tend to hang back as they don't want to give away penalties.
"In the Championship there are guys coming from everywhere. It will take us a while to find our feet as a team.
"I think on Saturday (at Esher) we took the right steps forward, and we realise it will be a dog fight to the end of the season.
"Every game is a proverbial cup final, it is a mental toughness and it will do us the world of good.
I still want to play in the Premiership and I want to play for Wales again
"We need to get that mentality of winning again, and once you get that it is a hard habit to break."
Williams looks set to be rested for the home game with Doncaster on Saturday with Jonny Arr coming back into the line-up.
"That rotation makes it hard, but you have to set the bench mark, I want to be number one here," he said.
"I still want to play in the Premiership and I want to play for Wales again.
"My game has come on so much more in a short space of time by having that pressure from the guys around me."
