Roger Knight7 Jul 2014 - 12:09

Peter’ Jubbly’James funeral will be held in Siloam Chapel, Killay at 1.45, Swansea Crem at 3.00 and afterwards at Dunvant RFC on Monday 14th July.

Peter, aged 63 and affectionately known by all his friends as ‘Jubbly’ suffered a heart attack last month and could not be revived. Jubbly was a great supporter of Dunvant Rugby Club, particularly in our early days at Broadacre and often helped out with the catering. He will be sorely missed at Dunvant by all who were touched by his humour and friendship. The Wake will be held in Dunvant Rugby Club after his funeral and all family and friends are extremely welcome.

From the South Wales Evening Post 24th June
A FORMER Swansea restaurateur with a huge circle of friends has died.
Peter James, known by many by his nickname Jubbly, suffered a reported heart attack last Saturday and could not be revived.
He ran a succession of party-themed restaurants in the city before trying his luck in Spain and latterly returning to Swansea.
Mr Roberts said everyone connected to Mr James had been shocked by his death.
"My phone has not stopped ringing — people from the USA, Australia and Spain," he said. "People stop me in the street and ask, 'Is it true?'"
Mr Roberts, who said he had spoken to his pal's family before talking to the Post, first met Killay man Mr James in 1976 when the latter was the co-owner of Greens — now The Viceroy of India — on St Helen's Road.
He offered Mr Roberts a job and a long friendship was born.
Mr Roberts, known as Boogie, said Mr James's nickname came from his school days.
He described him as an easy-going but astute boss who was brilliant with customers.
Mr James, he said, was one of the founders of CJ's Bar and Grill, Mumbles, and later ran The Knotted Handkerchief, at Bracelet Bay, Bunters, in Blackpill, and Martha's Vineyard on The Kingsway.
He then opened up Jubbly's on the city's Northampton Lane before spending around 12 years near Benidorm.
"He was a big part of everybody's lives," said Mr Roberts, 59, of Sketty Park.
Mr James had an older brother, Colin, and a niece and nephew.
Funeral details had not been announced at the time of going to press.
The Wave presenter Andy Miles, known as Badger, also used to work for Mr James."He was a really jolly character," he said. "Most DJs and doormen in Swansea have worked for him."Mr Miles added that Mr James enjoyed surfing at Langland and Caswell, and had very much his own style when it came to footwear."He was famous for wearing clogs — he wore them all his life," he said.Mr Miles added: "He was lovely. He always made you laugh. He knew that a good night out was about having fun."
