It is with great regret that Dunvant RFC has to announce that former committee member, Dr Ken Stagg has passed away at the age of 89. Here, Ken can be seen here at a function in the 80s on the left of the picture with a number of other club stalwarts. Ken was a regular at the club in the 1980s and 90s providing great technical assistance with the building of the changing rooms and providing calculations for the floodlight bases.
Ken was also a referee and past chairman of the Swansea & District Rugby Union, often officiating junior and senior matches in the area.
Born in Leeds, Ken moved to Swansea in 1963 to work at Swansea University in the Civil Engineering Department before retiring as Dean of the department in 1997.
Sadly Ken’s first wife Dorothy passed away in 2003, and children Mike, Peter and Julie have all been involved with the club. Now grandsons Ryan and Jason play for the club which gave him great pleasure. We send our condolences to his wife Carole now living near Hull and other family members at this sad time.
