Ripper has returned to Dunvant this season where he came up through the ranks before a decade of service at Llanelli RFC, leading them to the Premiership title in 2011 and also winning 3 Barbarians caps. Craig Barry Hawkins, now known as ‘Ripper’ was born in Morriston on 4 July 1979 and educated at Gowerton Comprehensive School. He played at hooker for Dunvant, Swansea, the Scarlets and, from 2004/05, Llanelli where he played over 150 games and was club captain. He also played for Hawke's Bay in New Zealand. He played for Wales Sevens and at all age levels from under-16s to under-21s. He now returns to Dunvant as Player/Coach for the 2014/15 season in Division 1 West Central.
Fight on the Farm
Tonight however, Ripper’s career takes on a new challenge when he will fight in a ‘Fight on the Farm’ boxing match between boxers and rugby players to raise money in aid of Rugby for Heroes.
The event takes place at 6.30 p.m. tonight at St.Albans Polo Club with DJ Spoony playing live.
Dunvant R.F.C. wish Ripper the very best of luck in this brave challenge tonight.
In addition to this boxing match, Llanelli RFC are also holding a testimonial dinner for Ripper at Dunvant RFC on Friday 1st August which again is in support of ‘Rugby for Heroes’.
