Suzy Davies profile
After a career in marketing and management, begun at Swansea Grand Theatre, Welsh-speaking Suzy practised as a high street solicitor for many years. She is married to Geraint who runs the family tourism and agriculture business, and they have two sons. Suzy has also trained as a mentor to work with young offenders and vulnerable families. She has been a trustee of a number of children’s projects and volunteered with community support groups. She has also been a member of two health focus groups and has served as a community councillor and a school governor. Suzy has written for various publications and was one of the founding board members of the Welsh International Film Festival.
Suzy’s experience
Suzy has fought in previous elections, and gave up work to fight the last general election. She has campaigned against the closure of community hospitals, schools, post offices and against loss of job opportunities. She set up local Job Clubs to help unemployed people overcome barriers to work and now volunteers in the Bridgend area as a mentor with a charity which helps the over-50s into economic activity. Suzy was appointed Shadow Minister for Welsh Language and Culture in May 2011. Suzy is also a member of the Assembly's Children and Young People Committee.
