It has come to our attention that a number of clubs in the area are looking to play children in their under 7s teams that have not yet had their 6th birthday

Can I remind all clubs that the Mini and Junior regulations state the following;

B. Registration and Transfer Regulations of Mini and Junior Players

1. Registration of Mini and Junior Players

1. For a player to be eligible to play for a Mini or Junior team of a Club in membership of a U19 Game Management Group that player must be registered by the Club with the Registration Officer of the U19 Game Management Group before he or she plays. Players are eligible to register from the age of 6.

I’d also like to make you aware that coaches are required to carry cards for all players to all games for inspection by the other team

1.7 When a player has been registered by a Club with the U19 Game Management Group, the Association shall produce an ID card for that player. That ID card shall be passed to the Club and shall be produced by the Club on each occasion that the player plays for the Club. The ID card is intended to prove that a player is eligible to play in the age group team fielded by the Club with which he is registered.

Can I also highlight that as per the Pathway laws a child in the under 8’s section at you club cannot play up into the Under 9s team

• No Under 8 players should play contact rugby (i.e. 1 year above)

Action will be taken by the GMG against those clubs found to be ignoring the rules outlined above.

Please be vigilant when it comes to your sections and eligibility of players. The GMG will be running a workshop next month on registrations and regulations alongside growing participation at all under 19 levels.
