Or hot is you are Kandi

On Saturday 1 September, the youth in a hastily rearranged game played at Vardre, where such events led to a 53 point drubbing before half time, not this time, swelled by even more players who had remarkably found their way to the club, returning like migrating birds on the first day of the season, and with Matthew Dodd straight out of the Ospreys under 18's squad making his first appearance having only just turned 16, the team showed an edge that had not been seen in the previous season, a performance that was built on not only a brilliant defensive show, ably led by the entire team with captain Jack lee cutting down their powerful centres with the support of Rory Beswick , and the pack who were the best wolf pack seen for a while, and were delivering the performance envisaged last season, Alistair again was outstanding, Antonio Lezzi was solid in the tackle and carried aggressively, and Aaron Perkins fought hard and picked up a few lessons which will serve him in good stead, Richard Walters was excellent in the loose showing deceptive pace as did his replacement Matthew Ballantyne in the second half, the front row absolutely smashed their much larger front row, and proved that size doesn't matter, though when Ryan Porter came on 2nd half with Gareth Williams that phrase was shown to be irrelevant, our lineout was dominant throughout and all jumpers won their own ball and in the main spoiled theirs with Matthew Dodd having an outstanding match, Sam Ley had what can be described as an armchair ride, and this meant we were able to release our backs who were all in their correct positions and in the first half slick passing along the line by Ben Gould released first Rory Beswick and then Sam Hawkes for tries, one converted, however poor discipline and an unengaged brain and mouth, led to a kick off not being claimed, (if you are going to dish it, you'd better be prepared to take it), this eventually led to a try on the stroke of half time, changes being made at half time saw Jack Thomas who had tackled and attacked well in the first half being replaced by Morgan Hackett who joined the tank of Kandi Buka on the wings, and Morgan put in several brilliant tackles, on a rare excursion into our half Vardre came close to our line but we showed discipline and excellent patience to clear our lines and drive down field, with resulting penalties taking us to the Vardre 22 yard line where excellent line out ball saw Sam Ley spotting a gap and passing to the excellent Alistair Hewins who drove over the line with Hawksy finishing off with a conversion, the final result 19-5 was an excellent win, from still a young team.
