Bit of a slip

The friendly match played in memory of former youth player Rhodri Jones, unfortunately didn't reach the hype of its billings. After all the recent rain it was lucky that when the Ark was taken of the pitch it didn't cause any damage, however the pitch was soaking wet and was always going to effect the game as a spectacle. In the first half Dunvant pressurised well and went over from the oppositions lineout when Matthew Dodd caught and drove over in the corner.
However after this score in the 15th minute was a spell that was to prove decisive, stright from the kick off the ball was gathered only for a penalty to be given away at the ruck for a slow release of the ball, the last time ive seen a ball released that slowly Thompson and Lillee were at their peak, the resulting penalty saw Dunvant turn their back, which saw them being punished when a quick tap led to a try under the posts.
The game slowly turned into a scrappy stop start game which was not allowed to flow, in the second half a kick deep into Dunvants 22 saw Kamikaze rugby, with a ruck set up close to the 22 yard line and with the choice of a relieving kick to touch with a couple of backs trapped, the forwards despite being told to leave the clean ball decided to drive forward and take the ball out of the 22, the option of a box ball was the next preferred option, however with the kick being too deep, the chase being poor and the midfield players only just emerging from the breakdown quick hands saw the pposition scoring with ease, a final score 5 minutes before time gave an unflattering result, which greatly reflected the game "poor", and all that can be said is that it was a game which given recent weather conditions was welcomed, and hopefully gives the team the chance to build going forward, lets just hope that all aspects of the game improve.
