This game will be remebered for 1 event 3 minutes from time, an interception try 3/4 of the pitch, at a time when Dunvant were dominant. From the start Swansea Uplands appeared to have the upper hand only for Dunvant to stop them at the gainline, and whenever Dunvant seemed to be on the verge of escaping peoples mouths invariably started to run away, obviously the talk about discipline didn't quite get through to some players, and neither did the talk about punishing mistakes, if truth be told at times Dunvant had very much a rear guard action, but they finished strong at the end of the first and second halves and with a bit more patience could have scored a few tries, twice being held up over the line. However for all the the try scoring opportunities, there were also moments of poor decision making and disciplne, and these are what cost us the game, we took the lead with 5 minutes to go through a Sam Hawkes penalty, but got carried away with 3 minutes to go looking for a try that would have finished the job off, when in hindsight keeping the ball tight might have wound the clock down deep in the Uplands half, they had not looked like scoring from deep, and had only on a couple of occassions come close to our line, so any subsequent turnovers would probably not harmed apart from one, an interception, with an overloaded openside and no one guarding the blindside. Dunvant proved they are more than up to the task, and look forward to more close encounters in the season, but hopefully all the players and coaches will learn a lesson in disciplne, finishing and decision making.
