Youth Win Friendly Against New Dock Stars

The youth managed to secure a friendly against New Dock Stars a first encounter against the opposition in more than three years. It was an opportunity to give the team a run after a prolonged break and give us the opportunity to brush off the cobwebs!

New Dock were a young and gutsy team with some pace behind. Dunvant took the first score of the match with a try beneath the posts from openside Cory Bennett, try converted by Dannie White 7 - 0. It was a stalemate then until the twenty second minute with a try coming from some pacy play from the New Dock backs 7 - 7.

Dunvant fought back within five minutes with a try from scrum half Myles Matthews coming on twenty six minutes converted by Joe Woodward. Just before the half time whistle New Dock fought back with their second of the half that was converted - Half Time 14 - 14.

Dunvant made a few changes on the half time break to ensure that all players got game time, three minutes into the half Captain Morgan Bevan crashed over out wide 19 - 14. From the kick off Dunvant attacked New Dock with some good play from the forwards and backs putting Joe Packer over under the posts for a try converted by Zac Devey 26 - 14.

It was a tussle at times with both teams playing some exciting open rugby, it wasn't until the twenty fourth minute that the next score came from Charlie Leyshon crossing for his sixth try of the season 31 - 14.

New Dock didn't throw in the towel and battled until the final whistle getting a try for their efforts on thirty minutes - Final Score Dunvant 31 - New Dock Stars 19.
