On a glorious sunny day that has turned out to be the last day of summer we welcomed Risca youth for the 3rd year in a row for a pre season friendly. Our second and final friendly before we start the league on Friday against Bont away, saw us field a depleted side due to holidays and festivals. With only 12 players available and 1 permitted from Penclawdd we started with six forwards and six backs.
The first half saw a short range try from Harry Hawkins powering over from 5 yards. Later in the half there were long range tries from Cam and Tom Sinclair with the last converted by Jack Cheyenne.
We entered half time 17-0 up. the second half saw Risca up the pressure while we upped our penalty count, something we need to get a hold of as we enter the league. one penalty was converted by Risca taking it to 17-3. More penalties followed with Billy woodward having a serious talking too and Cam receiving a yellow card. The pressure turned with some open running down the wings especially by first year youth Tom who was a prop turning into a wing by the look of it. 2 final tries by Jack and Rhys Hughes rounded the day off 27-3. Man of the match went to first year who has started to dominate the line out, put in some fine tackles and work around the lose and tight. Well done all, big training session this week in preparation for Friday.
