Dunvant youth put up a brave display at home against an older more experienced Pontarddulais outfit.
On a sunny Saturday afternoon Dunvant youth played host to Pontarddulais, having lost away to Pontarddulais a few weeks ago we knew it was going to be a tough afternoon at the office!!!
Pontarddulais being a physically bigger team took the lead with a converted try 0 - 7. Dunvant playing some attractive rugby with the ball passing through the backline drew the game with a try from winger Ben Chalk converted by centre Dannie White 7 - 7. The score remained at 7 - 7 at half time.
With Pontarddulais being the bigger pack we knew the second half was going to be tough, this in addition to having lost a few key players to injury during the first half of the game. Although we bravely battled the young Dunvant team were overpowered by a strong second half performance to which we could not respond. Pontarddulais racking up 24 second half points with no response. Final score of the match Dunvant 7 - Pontarddulais 31.
The score did not reflect the performance of the team and we deserved better. Stick together boys and the results will start to come. We are still lacking some experience in the team, hopefully in the near future we will have a full strength squad for a game. Keep it up!!!!!!!
