Dunvant youth took on near neighbours and rivals Loughor in a floodlight match on Friday evening.
The game was a close encounter with both teams displaying good attacking and defensive skills, there was some exciting running rugby but with strong defences scoring in the first half was kept to a minimum.
Dunvant broke the deadlock with a first try of the season for second row Jason Stagg after 23 minutes, the try went unconverted 5 - 0. Just before the half time whistle centre Joe Woodward took his chance converting a penalty when Loughor picked up a yellow card making the half time score 8 - 0 to the Home Team.
The second half started much as the first with some good attack and defence from both teams. With the game being tight Dunvant elected for a penalty shot from Dannie White that was converted 11 - 0.
Dunvant eventually started to turn the thumbscrew on the visitors with a try coming from scrum half Ben Ley converted by outside half Dannie White 18 - 0. Dunvant continued to attack with a third try of the game coming from Centre Joe Woodward that was converted again by Dannie White. The visitors never gave up with no score from either side in the final ten minutes of the game.
This was one of our best team performances of the season. Attacking rugby, good defence, securing our possession and a good set piece led to a great win on the evening.
Let's now keep it up in training and the rest of the season.
