On a bright sunny September afternoon we travelled away to South Gower in the League.
In a tightly fought first half Dunvant had the opportunity to take the lead with a penalty shot from Zac Devey, sadly the shot was pushed a little wide of the posts.
South Gower took two penalty opportunities during the first half making the turnaround score 6 - 0 to the home team.
South Gower were again next on the score sheet with a try out wide. There was a courageous try saving tackle by our full back Tom Lewis and it looked as if he had denied them a score with the ball looking to have been knocked on and not grounded but the score was awarded. The conversion attempt was missed 11 - 0.
South Gower were again next on the score sheet with a second un-converted try of the match 16 - 0.
Being 16 - 0 down we did then start to play some rugby, the game had been gradually slipping away from us. Centre Harry Wilkinson crossed for a try out wide that went un-converted 16 - 5. Full back Tom Lewis crossed out wide but the score was disallowed. Dunvant continued to press hard in the final ten minutes but failed to capitalise.
The game was our third in the league this season and the third league match that has been disrupted with the opposition opting for un-contested scrummages.
First year youth debutant this weekend was Declan Duckworth.
