Youth take maximum points for the fourth league game in a row this season - 20 Points collected from four consecutive league wins.
On a bright Saturday afternoon at Broadacre we started strongly against a team we had little knowledge about, having never faced the opposition previously. On seven minutes loose head prop Charlie Leyshon crashed over for the first try of the afternoon that was converted by centre Joe Woodward 7 - 0.
Maesteg came back strongly opting for a penalty shot at goal in the twelfth minute - 7 - 3.
With some strong set plays from Dunvant Jason Stagg broke loose on thirteen minutes for the second try of the match, this time going unconverted -12 - 0. Still playing really well Dunvant saw flying hooker Lesley Cole crash over at close range for a try that was converted by outside half Jack Cheyney 19 - 0.
Dunvant continued to press hard leading up to the half time break with some players having white line fever, we do need to learn when to leave the ball do the work for us especially with a three man overlap out wide. Eventually when the ball was released full back Lloyd Hughes went over for his first of the match that went unconverted on in the twenty sixth minute of the first half 24 - 3, this was the score at the half time break.
Maesteg regrouped and came out in the second half with some strong defence, it took us seventeen minutes to register the first score of the second half with a try coming from tight head prop Connor Phillips 29 - 3. It was stalemate for the next quarter of an hour or so with both teams playing some entertaining rugby with good attack and defence from both sides. Dunvant managed to score a second try of the second half on thirty one minutes through full back Lloyd Hughes crossing for his second of the afternoon 34 - 3. This was the final score.
Lets hope we keep up the momentum in the league. Next week sees us take on Mumbles Youth at Home.
